Contemporary ColorNo. 004

Contemporary Color was the wacky brainchild of David Byrne. It was an event held at the Barclays Center that combined high school and college colorguard teams with David’s network of A-list contemporary musicians and composers. A truly off-the-wall combo, but one that was a lot of fun to design for.

We did the branding package that was used to promote the event and I got to work on motion graphics that got used at the Barclays Center. I spent way too much time trying to make type wave like flags by taking video recordings of type printed on green flags and rotoscoping out the type. It was a lot of fun. David came to every meeting in a mechanic’s jumpsuit and was a joy to work with.
